Would you be able to provide that link, or a link to the instructions? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm not sure where to go to find the manual patch or how to install it. but you never know.ĮDIT: I realize a lot of replies to thread are saying it messes up the graphics, but that must've been fixed, because when I did this last night on my sisters White Macbook the graphics looked exactly the same as if I had opened the game with the launcher.ĮDIT: I don't have generations or any digital downloads I only have the disc version of LN and Ambitions, no SP's, and a little CC. It's XML and an extra return shouldn't matter.
*Be careful not to disturb any of the rest of the file or mess with line endings. *Change the last part to read TS3.exe instead of S3Launcher.exe. Don't move it out of that directory! You might want to take a backup first.
*Open the "contents" directory if it isn't already. *Right click on it, and select "show package contents". *find the executable itself - probably in /(your hard drive)/Applications/The Sims 3. It does really work, I did it last night and I was able to play with absolutely no problems. I know this sucks for those (including myself) who like to download items, because the launcher is required for that, but at least you'll be able to play.
Sadly, you will not be able to open the actual launcher anymore until EA fixes this problem, but if you do as the tutorial says then once you click on the Sims 3 icon in your dock/desktop/finder/whatever than it will automatically open the game, no launcher. (The link was posted on a reply to a thread, there wasn't a whole new thread made for it, sorry I made that a little unclear.) Someone posted a link (I can't remember the username, sorry! If I find it, I promise I'll post the username) on a different thread.
Okay so every Mac user who downloaded the craptastic new patch from EA can't open the launcher anymore. Sorry if someone already made a thread about this, I didn't see any.
